Intro to Finance: The controls and policies every nonprofit needs is a free workshop offered as part of the INTEGRALIntros series of educational webinars on topics of interest to your nonprofit organization's management, board members, and staff.

To assist you on your journey to learn more about nonprofit finance, we have collected the workshop slides, the recording of the most recent webinar, and some helpful resources.

INTRO to Financials provides an overview of the basics of financial responsibilities, controls, and policies every nonprofit should know about.

Some of the topics included are:

  • What are the respective roles of the board, the treasurer and the bookkeeper or accountant?

  • What financial information does a board typically need to make informed financial decisions?

  • What is the purpose of “internal control” and what are some key controls we can put in place?

  • How does budgeting relate to internal controls?
